Leon Trotsky was born November 1979 as Lev Davidovich Bronstein. Trotsky was a Bolshevik revolutionary and a Marxist theorist. In 1902 Trotsky escaped from Siberia and took the pseudonym of the jailer who held him in Odessa. After escaping, he made his way to London where he became one of the editors of the Iskra and wrote under the pen name Pero.

When he escaped and left his wife behind, Aleksandra understood and accepted his leaving. She knew it was out of necessity that they separate. He later met the woman with whom he would spend his final days with, Natalia Sedova. She would be his second and last bride. Together they raised two more children.

During his life, Leon Trotsky continued to be a great political activist, staying involved throughout the years. In 1918 he became leader of the Red Army which at the time was having problems and in the middle of dissolving during their fight against the Germans. He also led the Red Army during the Russian Civil War. However in 1925, Trotsky lost his Red Army posts and suffered some hardships, spending the winter and following spring unemployed.

His wife and son were sent along with him. During this exile, the Trotskyists began to dissolve. Trotsky though stayed the course with his beliefs and continued his protests up until 1940 when while living in Mexico, Trotsky found himself at the wrong end of an ice axe. Agent Ramon Mercader of the NKVD brutally embedded it into Trotsky’s skull, ending his life.
